Your Vagus Nerve, Explained Gently | A Relaxing Guided Demo from Connection to Protection
In this short guided practice, I walk you through the two pathways of the vagus nerve: the ventral vagus, which supports connection and safety, and the dorsal vagus, which relates to shutdown and overwhelm. Using simple touch and posture, we trace the pathways through the body so you can begin to notice how these states show up in your own life.
This practice is calm and accessible. You’re invited to move slowly, notice what’s happening inside, and reconnect with yourself, others and the world around you. It’s something you can return to anytime your body needs a moment to settle.
What we explore in this video:
How the vagus nerve travels through the body
The role of the ventral vagus in presence and connection
The role of the dorsal vagus in freeze and collapse
A grounding, follow-along practice for gentle regulation
